Hever Castle is an important historic castle on the English landscape, and was once the family home of one of England’s most famous Queens – Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or Castle Entrance.
Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn’s Walk.Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the Head Gardener and his team. Hever Castle is situated three miles South East of Edenbridge off the B2026 between Sevenoaks and East Grinstead in the village of Hever.
Situated 30 miles from London in West Kent, exit the M25 at junctions 5 or 6 and follow the Brown tourist signs.
Also well signed from the Hildenborough exit of the A21. Satellite navigation users: Post Code TN8 7NG
Trains run from London Victoria and London Bridge (via Oxted or East Croydon) to Edenbridge Town Station, and then take a taxi for three miles to the castle. Relyon Taxis are near the station, telephone 01732 863800. We suggest that you book a taxi in advance.
Hever Station (next on line, unmanned and no taxis) is a one-mile rural walk to the castle.
There are no regular bus services to Hever Castle.
Eurostar terminal at Ashford is 1¾ hours drive by roadBy Air
Gatwick airport is 30 minutes away, Heathrow is one hour. Hever can then be reached by Road or Rail as above.By Sea
Dover is 1¾ hours away by road as is the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone.
