Martin Roscoe, one of the UK’s most acclaimed and best loved pianists, will be joined by I Musicanti in a thrilling programme which will include Steve Reich’s Different Trains, Arvo Part’s Fratres, and Beethoven’s great and final piano concerto – The Emperor, in its rarely heard setting for piano and string quintet.
The chamber ensemble I Musicanti comprises Britain’s most experienced and respected musicians, hand-picked by the group’s artistic director, international double bass virtuoso, Leon Bosch.
The concert will take place in the Sanctuary of The Liberal Jewish Synagogue. With its excellent acoustic and atmospheric, octagonal interior, surrounded by walls of Jerusalem stone, it is the perfect setting for Reich’s seminal composition Different Trains, scored for string quartet, pre-recorded performance tape and surround-sound speakers.
