The Big Questions - How Midrash Works
Thursdays 19th, 26th October, 2nd, 9th November
When it came to addressing the biggest questions of life, the Rabbis used a system of interpretation called Midrash to breathe new life into our sacred texts. The process of Midrash began over 2000 years ago, and still continues to this day. Through a series of classes with different teachers, we will not only tackle some of the biggest questions facing Jews, we will also learn basic techniques of how the Midrashic system works, and how our tradition has learnt to read our core texts.
All texts will be provided with translation but some knowledge of Hebrew will be helpful. Each session stands alone, but each builds one on the other, so that after the complete series you will have gained greater access to, and appreciation for, How Midrash Works.
