A Taste of the Conservative Yeshiva

with Rabbi Joel Levy

Sunday 19th November
10.00am - 3.00pm

What is shabbat really about? What relevance does it hold for us in our increasingly technological society? How does the rabbinic vision of shabbat connect to the Bible?

In this day-long intensive, Rabbi Joel Levy will be bringing the learning from the Conservative Yeshiva to our community, taking the time to really delve in the traditional texts of the Mishnah and Talmud. This is a real chance to connect deeply with texts and to engage with some crucial questions of Jewish observance in the modern world. Some prior learning is recommended.

Rabbi Joel Levy, Rosh Yeshiva, studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, was chair of the Program at Limmud conference and is an ex-director of NOAM. He received rabbinical ordination from Rabbi David Hartman in 2000. He has been the part-time rabbi of Kol Nefesh Masorti Synagogue, Britain’s first fully egalitarian traditional shul, since 2001.
