What you need to know

Puzzle Centre have been using the SCERTS model at our specialist setting, and in our outreach assessment and support service, since 2010.  We are now a national demonstration site for the use of SCERTS.  If you are looking for a practical framework to provide structures that will help a child with autism in your care, either in a home or school setting, this course is for you.

The Puzzle Centre team can demonstrate how you can successfully integrate the SCERTS model to provide a programme for supporting children and their families that focuses on meaningful progress within everyday routines at home, school and the community.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to the SCERTS Principles
  • The 3 Communication Stages
  • Frequently used goals
  • Transactional Supports for each of the stages

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course you will:

  • Understand the key principles of the SCERTS model
  • Understand the use of the most common SCERTS goals for each communication
