Overview

Qualitative studies form an important part of the evidence base for both the practice of evidence-based health care and the practice of our own profession. Based on the experience of teaching critical appraisal of qualitative research at Brighton and Sussex NHS Library and Knowledge Service, this workshop, using interactive and participative methods, will explore questions of the nature of qualitative research, its critical appraisal, and how it may best be taught.

  • Know the main differences between quantitative and qualitative research
  • Define the different methodologies and methods in qualitative research
