Nursing Now

What you need to know

Health challenges in the 21st century are changing which means how care is delivered and by whom also needs to change. The Triple Impact Report identified nursing’s central role in the future of health care; directly implicating the profession as foundational to society health, economic growth and improving gender equality.  The Nursing Now Campaign kicked off February 27th with the aim to create a global network of nurse champions and advocate for more nurses in leadership positions. Through strengthening the role of nurses and increasing the voice of the nursing profession it is anticipated that health of communities across the globe will improve!

In support of Nursing Now , University of Edinburgh nursing students hosted a coffee rounds at the RIE on March 8th, which was well received by staff and proved a fantastic platform to engage nurses in conversations about nursing and demonstrate support of each other (see link to U of E nursing blog for details).  To continue the conversation a  second  'Coffee Rounds' is being host by U of E nursing students, this time at the Western General Hospital (WGH) on June 1st.  To bridge discussion on their rounds and understand the challenges of staff nurses, nursing students are coming with the following questions: "What is the most challenging part of nursing" and  "what is the most rewarding part of nursing?"

All are welcome to attend.  All you need is yourself and if you are a nurse some way of identifying yourself as such. Please invite others who may be interested.
