We are delighted to be hosting the 'KENT LATTE ART THROW DOWN' on the 14th June 2018
On there night we will also have a brewery takeover from Pig and Porter along with a DJ and street food in the courtyard.
Latte Art Throw down Rules
This is a tournament run by a ladder system; there must be an even amount of competitors to balance the numbers. Competitors names will be drawn out before the start in pairs and the winner of each pair will go on to the next pairing until only two remain and a winner is announced.
Each competitor must pour into 6oz cappuccino cups each round
There is a limit of 3 minutes. Competitors do not have to pull their own shots.
A. Competitor Sign-up
• Limited to 32 competitors
• The 32 are determined by first come/first serve.
• In order to participate, the competitor must have some experience with espresso preparation and the equipment used to do so. In addition, the competitor must have experience pouring milk-based beverages.
B. Competition time/Competitor requirements
• Competitor pairing will be called, and must be available and ready to compete while the pair that is before them is currently competing.
• Competitors will be judged on a best of 3 pours, patterns are to be determined by the roll of a latte art dice (designs include heart, rosetta, 3 tier tulip, 5 tier tulip, swan, phoenix, wave heart and slowsetta)
• Competitors do not have to pull their own shots, they will be poured for them.
• Each competitor will get the choice of having espresso shots pulled into one cup or split between 2, however only one opportunity to steam milk!
• Spilled milk will be handled case by case.
• Cups will be provided for the competitor to choose from, but the competitor can bring his or her own pitcher/jug of choice. Splitting milk is allowed.
• Espresso and milk are provided, and those are the only choices. Competitors MAY NOT bring their own espresso or milk.
• An alternative milk will be used in the later rounds in order to showcase the competitors skill set.
• The latte art must be free pour, no etching or sauces allowed. Only ingredients will be espresso and milk.
• Once the drinks are poured the competitor will place it on the designated space to be judged.
C. Judging
• There will be 3 judges. on the count of 3 with no discussion the judges will point to what they deem the winning cup.
