Become a student for a day!
As a student at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies in Dumfries you will take courses from all of our academic areas, Environmental Science, Health and Social Policy, Hummanities and Education.
During this years Applicant Visit Day you will take a lecture in each of these subject areas along with your fellow applicants. Meet our lecturers and current students, find out how our courses relate to one another and get to know our campus.
We will have seperate information sessions for parents whilst you are studying and will close the day with an optional tour of the campus and the student residences.

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Dumfries Campus is located just south of the historic town of Dumfries, approximately two hours south of Glasgow and less than an hour from Carlisle.

From the north, take the M74 (A74M) south to exit 15 Moffat/Dumfries, then follow the A701 to Dumfries town centre.
From the south, take the M74 north to exit 22 Gretna, signposted A75 Dumfries/Stranraer, then follow the A75 to Dumfries.
On arrival in Dumfries, follow signs for The Crichton. This will take you through the town centre and up Bankend Road, past the Mountainhall Treatment Centre. At the main entrance to the Crichton Estate, follow signs for the University Campus and the Rutherford/McCowan building. Parking is available at Dudgeon House.
Disabled parking is available at the Rutherford McCowan building.
Dumfries has direct rail links to Glasgow and Carlisle. From these stations you can access routes across the rest of the UK.
The journey time from Dumfries to Glasgow is less than 2 hours. The journey time from Dumfries to London is less than 5 hours.
A bus service runs roughly every 20 minutes from Dumfries town centre. Bus details are available by zooming right in and clicking on the blue bus icons on the map provided above.
There is a direct daily bus from London to Dumfries and a regular bus link to Glasgow. Coach services from other parts of Scotland (Edinburgh, Borders), England, Wales and Northern Ireland are also available.
There are dedicated cycle routes and footpaths from the centre of Dumfries to the campus. There is cycle parking available on campus.
Belfast is only 90 minutes away by boat from Cairnryan in the south west of Scotland.
