What you need to know

MVLS Public Engagement Gathering – Radical Citizen Science

Thursday 20 February 2020  - 10 am to 12 noon

Sophia Collins has twenty years of expertise in public engagement with science. She has led "radical" citizen science projects, where research is co-produced with participants from design to dissemination and evaluation.

Illustrated with examples from her recent experiences with the Wellcome-funded project Parenting Science Gang, Sophia will help you to think about things such as:

  • What are the barriers to genuine co-production and how can we overcome them?
  • Using Facebook to its full capacity in engagement
  • Running genuinely family friendly events

Sophia's presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and a chance to discuss what all this means for your own projects.

As always, our events include refreshments and networking opportunities and are open to people of all levels of experience.

Any questions about this event please contact MVLS Engagement Team.

If you would like to learn more about Sophia's work you can find her on Twitter @sophiacol

We look forward to welcoming you.
