What you need to know

Dear Researchers,

We have been offered 20 free places for the following online courses. If you would like to do these, please sign up to this event. The first 20 people to do so will receive the access code.

Please bear in mind that PGR@Home also offers much of the same content as module one, so if that’s the only bit you’re interested in, we’d ask you not to take up a space, but rather to allow someone else to benefit from the other two.

As places are limited, please think about whether or not you have time to commit to these in the next month and to providing us with feedback on them by 15 August, so we know whether or not this is something we should consider offering to researchers in future years.

Please ensure that you sign up using your University of Glasgow email address, else your application will not be accepted.

Not right for you / not the right time?
Please remember that we also have access to Linkedin learning courses (logging in with your GUID) and there is a huge amount of useful content on there. In particular, researchers have noted that the managing working relationships courses and video production are good.

Digital Course Collection: 3 short online courses for researchers
The Electv Digital course collection, consists of three short online courses designed for researchers. Each course takes less than one day to complete and can be done in your own time. The three courses in the collection are complementary but distinct from each other: the first course invites you to reflect on your professional profile content and networking strategy; the second course teaches you the Wordpress software step by step to build a website from scratch; and the third course is more informational in scope, covering relevant aspects of IP. The three courses are:

              1) Your professional profile & networking

               2) Build your own website in a day

               3) Intellectual property essentials

The courses can be completed in any order. After you create a login the first time, you can save the details and return to the course later whenever you would like to do so. After you complete each course, you will receive a downloadable course completion certificate.

More detail can be found on the Digital Course Collection here.

The courses are proving to be very popular with PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, this is what they are saying:

  • “Excellent. Between the start and finish of the course my LinkedIn connections with leading specialists worldwide increased dramatically. This speaks for itself.”
  • “Excellent. This helped me to create a website in an easy and fast way."
  • “An informative course on the practice of IP. The case studies are interesting and the content of the course clearly written with supporting videos and documents for widening knowledge.”

All the best

The PGR Development Team at the University of Glasgow
