What you need to know

At Autism Early Support (Puzzle Centre) we have been using the SCERTS model at our specialist centre, and in our outreach assessment and support service, since 2010. We are now a national demonstration site for the use of SCERTS.  If you are looking for a practical framework to provide structures that will help a child with autism in your care, either in a school setting or at home, this course is for you. Our Team can demonstrate how you too can successfully integrate the SCERTS model to provide a programme for supporting children and their families that focuses on meaningful progress within everyday routines at home, school and the community.

These 2 webinars will provide an overview of SCERTS and how it can be used for assessment, support and monitoring children with social communication and emotional regulation difficulties in settings

Aims of the webinars

  •   To provide an overview of the SCERTS framework, the evidence base and practice principles focused on how this is implemented at Autism Early Support.
  • To introduce methods for determining a child's communication stage.
  • To demonstrate observation tools to support individual and group planning.
  • To demonstrate target setting in priority areas.
  • To identify key effective strategies (transactional supports) for your students.
  • To explore how student progress can be monitored in a meaningful way, in particular for those whose achievements are not easily measured using standard assessments.
  • To share good practice incorporating SCERTS at Autism Early Support.
  • To provide opportunities for applied learning and practical solutions that can be implemented in your service.

*Please note that the manual will not be provided at this course but we recommend that you purchase your own copy. The SCERTS manuals are available from Amazon books.
