What you need to know

No one should have to care alone. According to research by the national carers’ charity Carers UK (this link will take you away from our website), eight in ten unpaid carers have felt lonely or isolated because of their caring role. The Carer Voices project aims to allow carers to start, join in and be part of the conversation.

In January 2021, the Carer Voices project will mark the 10th Anniversary of National Lead Tommy Whitelaw’s walk across Scotland’s towns and cities where he met and collected carer stories and experiences by launching a virtual walk across Scotland. At a time that social distancing measures remain in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project aims to now bring together carers virtually through a monthly Carers Conversation.

This conversation café will run on a drop-in basis, bringing together carers interested in sharing their feelings, thoughts and ideas over a tea and coffee and in a relaxed and informal space.

The first online carer conversation café will be held on Zoom on:

Date: Tuesday 26 January 2021

Time: 11am-12pm

Each monthly meeting will foster peer support and be organised around different themes, featuring different guests and activities including singalongs and poetry readings. The date, time and agenda for each month will be determined by the group’s needs and preferences.
