"Tailored Treatments" Seminar with Q&A

Tailored Treatments - ScotPEN Wellcome Engagement Award project

Friday, January 15, 2021

What you need to know

Join ScotPEN and Stephanie Sinclair from the University of Edinburgh to hear about 'Tailored Treatments for Cancer: Tales of Research and Care' - a public engagement project funded by the ScotPEN Wellcome Engagement Award (SWEA).

Tailored Treatments is part of the Cancer and Society in the 21st Century project (CancerandSoc21C). Working with Ziggy's Wish, the project is creating a graphic novel that encourages honest and timely debate around the pros and cons of personalised cancer medicine.

Patients, carers and health workers have fed into the development of the novel through interactive workshops. A virtual creative workshop also supported participants from around the globe to create a graphic short story about their own experiences of personalised medicine.

Stephanie is the Public Engagement and Knowledge Exchange Co-ordinator at the University of Edinburgh's Usher Institute and has been involved both in developing the funding application for Tailored Treatments and in running the project. She will reflect on her experiences and answer questions from attendees. Members of the SWEA team will also be on hand to answer any queries about the funding scheme.

This on-line Zoom event is co-hosted by the Scottish Public Engagement Network and the University of Glasgow's MVLS Engagement team.
