Do you think you will have an Early Career Teacher (NQT) in 2021/2022

Overview/Background

The Early Career Framework (ECF) reforms will be rolled out nationally in September 2021. The reforms are part of the government’s teacher recruitment and retention strategy which aims to improve the training and development opportunities available to all teachers in the early stages of their career. 

As identified within the recent leadership briefings, the role of the Teaching School Hub will be to work in partnership with existing Teaching Schools and wider partners, to provide high quality services in ITT, ECF/Appropriate Body, NPQ and CPD. We are writing to you specifically in relation to the Early Career Framework.  

How can the Teaching School Hub support you?

The Teaching School Hub will support schools in ensuring that a robust and supportive approach is available for all teachers at the start of their career.  This includes both those new to statutory induction for September 2021 and those that are part-way through, under the current arrangements.

The lead ECF Provider

Six providers have been chosen by the DfE to lead the ECF core content and training.  The Teaching School Hub has conducted a rigorous process of due diligence, alongside our partners, to select the most suitable provider for Lincolnshire.  

Education Development Trust (EDT) has been selected and will be the lead provider for the Teaching School Hub in Lincolnshire moving forwards.  

Next Steps/ Action

You may receive information in relation to the ECF changes via the DfE, in preparation for September 2021. This may include implications for both mentors and teachers.  To support you fully, the Teaching School Hub has selected a series of dates to inform you of the next steps for enrolling an Early Career Teacher, including what this means for your school.
