As part of our ongoing commitment to encourage cycling in a fun and safe environment, the Hillingdon Slipstreamers have partnered with Hillingdon Council to deliver free cycling sessions to residents and visitors to the borough as part of their Parklife community initiative.
All coaching sessions will be delivered by British Cycling qualified coaches from Hillingdon Slipstreamers Children's Cycling Club, and will run throughout the Summer for 5 weeks. Sessions will be focussed on foundation and improver skills, where participants will be taught the skills and confidence to enjoy their bikes in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
Sessions will run for 4 days a week, and are structured as follows:
o Mondays and Tuesdays: Children Only (Ages 6-16 years)
o Wednesdays: Women Only (Ages 12+ and older)
o Thursdays: Families Only (At least 1 parent/ guardian and 1 child)
The first Families Only session starts on Thursday 28th July 2016, and we wrap up on Thursday 25th August 2016 with our final session of the Summer. The sessions are free, however spaces are very limited and you must book in advance, using this particular form, to secure a slot.
To qualify as a family, at least 1 parent/ legal guardian/ family relation must participate with at least 1 child aged 6 to 16 years. This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy some quality time out on a bike at a purpose built facility learning a few new skills! Mums and sons, fathers and daughters, aunties and cousins, grandparents and grandchildren, the whole family - this is just for you! Children need to be aged 6+ and over to participate, and for adults there is no maximum age.
Anyone who meets the criteria in the categories noted above are welcome to come along, and you do not need to belong to a cycling club or be a whiz on a bike to join in. However, these sessions are not for absolute beginners, and all participants should be able to ride a bike comfortably and independently without support or stabilisers - unfortunately we cannot provide 1:1 assistance during these sessions for children or adults who cannot ride a bike on their own.
It is advisable to bring your own bike to the session; however, in some circumstances we are able to provide bikes if you don't have one - please let us know if this is the case via email as soon as possible.
So if you are looking for an opportunity to learn a few new skills, make some friends, and have a bit of fun on your bikes, be sure to register using this very simple form to secure your place as these are limited. Spread the word, tell your friends, shout it from the rooftops – book now to come and join us!
