Dan Payton – Total Security Protection
Daniel's career started 22 years ago when he enrolled onto an electrical apprenticeship, achieved his C&G certification and became a qualified electrician. Continuing his love for being on the tools he moved into the Fire and Security Sector servicing and installing Fire systems, sprinkler flow, CCTV, Intruder, Access Control and emergency lighting, but also found his enjoyment for faut finding. Over the years he moved up through the ranks, first as a supervisor managing a team of engineers, then as a small works project manager and finally to the forefront into account management/BDM to utilise his expertise and natural people skills (even though he misses the tools some days). I have applied my experience and expertise to various sectors over the years including aviation where I have provided consultation for multiple airports throughout the UK.
Overview of Dan’s presentation
Traditionally, security solutions are primarily about the technology, with components selected for the immediate security need. However, the information gathered, collated and analysed by your security systems, encompassing Safety, Security and Operations, your people, processes and current technology can be leveraged and used across your business, providing Actionable Intelligence. This information enables mitigation of Risks, Reduction in Costs and Enforcing Compliance.
Mike Reddington – BSIA
With industry concern on a potential ban or moratorium of the use of Automated Facial Recognition (AFR) technology and a lack of clear legislation to regulate its ethical and legal use, the BSIA formed a special group which embarked on the creation of an industry first guide. This was produced with the inputs of the members developing and deploying the technology, analysis of the legal and ethical frameworks already in place and through consultation with key stakeholders in government.
Chief Executive Mike Reddington will discuss the creation and reason behind the guide and the next steps in the Association's drive to see clear legislation created for the use of surveillance cameras and facial recognition technology. Mike has worked in the security industry for over 25 years, beginning his career in electronic engineering before moving into sales and marketing, rising into senior roles for a variety of organisations. Mike was appointed as Chief Executive of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) in 2019.
Andrew Palmer – Baseline
Having previously served in the British military as a counter terrorism specialist, Andrew Palmer went on to spend several years in the immigration field before joining the Gatwick Airport security team. During this time, he was responsible for the introduction and development of a Behavioural Detection capability which is regarded as having spearheaded the advancement of the industry. This was reflected in winning the Counter Terrorism Initiative of the Year and being ranked number one on the IFSEC Global list of Influencers in Security.
Recognised as an international authority on the subject, Andrew has developed Behavioural Detection programmes across the globe, for both government and corporate organisations at a range of locations including international airports, major sporting and entertainment venues and various critical infrastructure sites. He has delivered briefings and keynote talks at international events and summits including at The Hague and to the EC in Brussels and continues to work closely with government agencies to support the development of their understanding of Behavioural Detection both at an academic and operational level.
Alongside his role as Managing Director of Baseline, Andrew is also Director General of the International Association of Behaviour Detection and Analysis, a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to support the Behaviour Detection and Analysis industry through the advancement of understanding, recognition and standards. Andrew will give you an insight into what Behavioural Detection is and how the capability can operate at different sites and venues. Detailing the benefits to be gained from Behavioural Detection whilst recognising the limitations. A myth busting overview of a subject many consider to be an essential component of any security strategy.
Norman De Andrade – Motorola Solutions
Norman's presentation will focus on answering the question "Why specify the Motorola Solutions Eco System". He will look at the end to end solution, discussing advanced AI & Video analytics, superior quality and performance, and the total cost of ownership.
