We are honoured to announce that our Royal Patron HRH The Princess Royal will be In attendance at our upcoming AGM.

We hold a meeting each year which every member is welcome to attend. The meeting is about The Security Institute - what we've achieved in 2021, how your subscription fees have been spent and what our plans are for 2022. Although its a formal meeting, the presentations are interesting and informative and its your opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding of all things "Institute".

Presentations will be given by the Chairman, the Chief Executive and there will be voting for the new Board of Directors. Details of how to nominate and support potential new Directors, or how to vote if you can't attend in person, will be circulated separately.

The SyI HQ team will be there to support the Board of Directors, and we look forward to welcoming you to this FREE CPD event.

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to join the Chair, Board of Directors and the HQ team at this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year we return to the Victory Services Club, for our first in-person AGM since 2019, on 28th April. It is expected to be a full house again so please book your place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Our AGM is being held for the following purposes:

 ·         To receive a Financial Report and adopt the Security Institute statement of Accounts and Auditors’ Report for the year ended December 31st 2021.

·         To reappoint Armstrongs as Accountants of the Company and approve their renumeration.

·         To receive a report from the Chair of the Institute.

·         To elect Directors to the main Board.

·         To transact any other competent ordinary business.

There is a lot to cram into this AGM. You will hear from our Chair, Peter Lavery FSyI, on the strategic developments of the Institute as well as the ongoing focus on enhancing our governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR). We will also be hearing from a number of our directors, who will be reporting on the 5 strategic pillars of the Institute, Membership Experience, Next Generation, Professionalisation, Influence and Ethics. The directors have been outstanding in delivering their portfolios and the impact has been felt far beyond the membership.

At HQ, we have had a busy year. Not only have we expanded by 5 members of the team, being joined by Rachel Owen, Heidi King, Martina Greatrex, Rosaviyah Razaq and more recently Angela Vernon-Lawson CSyP FSyI. On the information assurance/cyber security front, we held staff training on GDPR compliance and passed external audits for Cyber Essentials Plus. We continue to streamline our operations and align our business processes, risk and resilience with the standards of ISO 9001, for which we were accredited again this past quarter by our auditors the BSI.

As we plan for another busy year, it is good to stop and reflect on our progress to date. We look forward to a year of in-person events following COVID restrictions lifting, and finally being able to meet face to face for networking at functions such as the AGM, and many more to follow. We want to showcase all of the great things that we are achieving, as a reminder of why you chose to belong to the Security Institute. We welcome and encourage your participation and appreciate the opportunity to respond to your questions. On behalf of the Board and our staff, we look forward to meeting you for an informative Annual General Meeting.

Warmest Regards,

Rick Mounfield
