This is an in-person, on-campus event for UofG Staff and Students Only.  A valid UofG Staff or Student email address is required to book your ticket.  The venue is to be confirmed. 

Racism is real, and it is a reality experienced daily by staff and students of racially diverse heritage in educational institutions in the UK. This presentation will look at education as a site of racism and whiteness. It will also look at the experiences of racially diverse staff and students in educational institutions. It will end by looking at how some leaders are engaging with and trying to tackle racism to improve conditions for both staff and students. 

Paul Miller, PhD, is Professor of Educational Leadership & Social Justice. His primary areas of research are: Gender-Based Violence (how the curriculum can be used as a social vaccine against GBV) and anti/ racism and leadership. Paul has written extensively on these issues and is well regarded as someone who pursues solutions-focused research.

Paul is the Director of the Institute for Educational & Social Equity, Strategic Adviser, AdvanceHE and EDI and Anti-Racism Adviser to the Principal, Queen Margaret University, Scotland. He is the first (and still the only) Black Professor of Educational Leadership in the entire UK.

Paul is also the editor of Power and Education and founding editor of Equity in Education & Society. Professor Miller will be discussing anti-racism and educational leadership.
