This is a 4 week pottery course - each session is 2 ½ hrs.
Choose either 10.00 - 12.30 morning session or 2.00 - 4.30pm afternoon session
Dates are: 1st, 8th and 15th March and final glazing day on the 19th April.
During the course, participants will hand build a breakfast set for one, consisting of:
Week One: Make tea bowl and side plate
Week Two: Decorate tea bowl and side plate and make coil bowl.
Week Three: Decorate coil bowl and make teaspoon and coaster.
Week Four: Glaze your breakfast set.
There might be the opportunity to create more pieces, depending on the speed at which you work.*
You will learn how to make pinch pots, coil pots and how to use slabs to make your breakfast set, as well as techniques for carving your clay.
Your work will then be allowed to dry thoroughly before being bisque fired.
During the final session on the 19th April, you will glaze your work which will then be glaze fired to 1200 degrees. At the end of April you can collect your completed breakfast set.
* If additional pieces are created, there will be an extra cost for materials and firing.

Directions to Carymoor:
The post code for the Carymoor Environmental Centre is BA7 7NR and
here is a Google map of the location. The Centre is based next to the landfill site at
Dimmer near Castle Cary and we share the same main gate for our access. Coming
off the B3153 on to Dimmer Lane, you’ll see a sign for the Dimmer landfill site
and Recycling Centre. Follow this road until you come to a farm on a left hand
bend and turn immediately right. You’ll see the signs here for the Dimmer site
and for Carymoor. At the end of this road you’ll pass the recycling centre on
your right and come to some traffic lights at the main gate of the landfill
site.
· Please queue up at the lights until you get a green light. Once the light is green, go through the main gates and turn left before the weighbridge (ignore the wooden building and car park by the weighbridge – this is the landfill site operator’s offices).
· Please note there is a 10mph speed limit on the site. You’ll see a big white sign on the bank with Carymoor on it and then green arrows with ‘Carymoor’ marked on them to direct you.
· Keep going up over the hill, past a large compost operation on your left, and at the bottom of the hill you’ll see the centre and the car park on the left hand side.
