World Vision
Each year at Wychwood we support a number of NGO campaigns, and World Vision are currently our main charity.
About World Vision:
World Vision is a relief, development and advocacy organization dedicatedto working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Whilst we have a Christian ethos, World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
World Vision is a part of the World Vision partnership, which operates in 100 countries around the world. We are organized into three distinct departments that individually tackle development, disaster management and advocacy. Each department is further subdivided into different areas of expertise and focus, ensuring that we have the broadest and most effective base possible to tackle the global fight on poverty.
In 2010 they brought their “Step Into Africa” experiential exhibit, where you could see life in Africa through a child’s eyes. Following the life story of Ayie, a young girl from Sierra Leone, this interactive exhibit featured African huts, a stirring audio-led tour via mp3 players, authentic African artefacts and captivating photography transporting you into the heart of Africa, plus drumming and jewellery workshops and storytelling.
Over the coming months we’ll let you know what World Vision have in store for us this year, and in the meantime thank you so much to all of you who took the decision to sponsor a child from Malawi, Uganda, India, Zambia and Senegal, as a result of visiting the exhibition, and look forward to adding more to the World Vision- Wychwood family!
