What you need to know

At Puzzle Centre we have been using the SCERTS model at our specialist centre, and in our outreach assessment and support service, since 2010. We are now a national demonstration site for the use of SCERTS.  If you are looking for a practical framework to provide structures that will help a child with autism in your care, either in a school setting or at home, this course is for you. The Puzzle Team can demonstrate how you too can successfully integrate the SCERTS model to provide a programme for supporting children and their families that focuses on meaningful progress within everyday routines at home, school and the community.

 Course Outline:

*               Introduction to the SCERTS Principles

*               The initial assessment process using SCERTS at Puzzle Centre

*               Setting goals using SCERTS checklists

*               Using educational planning grids to write SCERTS goals

*               Case studies (Social, Language and Conversational partner stages)

*              Transactional Support as a tool for observing and reflecting on your practice and working with parents and other practitioners

 Learning Outcomes:
