PERFORMER BIOGRAPHIES

DSCF0403David was introduced to the piano by his father, who taught him about crotchets and minims, sharps and flats, and how to make music sound like music. He spent, or possibly mis-spent, much of his childhood and adolescence building on this foundation, leading to his first and second jobs as a ballet pianist and a musical theatre accompanist. After some attempts at a non-musical career he now finds himself having come full circle, once again playing for dance classes and cabaret singers. But he is at heart a classical pianist, with a particular love of romantic and early twentieth century repertoire, and is delighted to have the opportunity, with Amy, to play some proper music.

At the age of nine, Amy became a cello student at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music where she studied with William Bruce and Professor Alexander Boyarsky. She was awarded the Ruby White prize for a solo performance in the Marjorie Humby competition in her final year.  Amy was awarded the McMyn String Scholarship to study at Manchester University for her BMus degree where she continued her cello studies with Bernard Gregor - Smith and Emma Ferrand. Amy furthered her studies in London with Felix Schmidt and now enjoys giving recitals, teaching, and playing as a freelance musician.
