Communication and Play Course:

Connecting and communicating with your child through play – suitable for parents and practitioners who are working with children with autism and other communication needs

Course outline:

  • ·        Play and communication development – understanding your child’s play and communication stage
  • ·        Let’s play together – following your child’s interests and keeping interactions fun!
  • ·        Time for toys – which toys and how to develop attention,  interaction and communication and play using them
  • ·        Making music – nursery rhymes, listening, copying and making sounds
  • ·        Bonding with books – which kinds of books help communication, understanding and attention

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this course you will:

  • Understand more about how you can connect and communicate with your child and have fun playing with them at the same time
  • Understand the link between play and communication development
  • Take away practical ideas to use with your child, including suggestions for toys, books, songs, and attention getting activities and games
