Come find out more about the opportunities available for this year's EU Researchers Night Explorathon celebration in Edinburgh, along with a short communication training session designed to help you distill your "Research Hook" and use this to start conversations with members of the public. Those who have already registered their interest in Explorathon will be prioritised, but those who are interested in being involved are also welcome if there is space.
We are running several sessions over the day, and you only need to attend one:
Morning Session 10.00 - 12.30 (Martin Hall at New College)
Afternoon Session 14.30 - 17.00 (Martin Hall at New College)
Twilight Session 18.00 - 20.30 (*Venue Change* 1.21 Paterson’s Land)
INDUCTION DETAILS: We will be able to discuss more details about each venue and event which is part of Explorathon and answer any specific questions you may have.
TRAINING DETAILS:
The training is designed for researchers and students both with and without prior experience of public engagement, focusing on how to develop a "research hook" to start conversations in a broad range of settings and adjust your language, body language, and pitch to different audiences. Training will be provided by the award-winning science communicator Lewis Hou along with members of the Leith Labs team and designed to be transferable to all of the Explorathon events.
