This event is only open to University of Glasgow staff and students.



In celebration of Black History Month, the University of Glasgow's Equality and Diversity Unit and The Hunterian, are pleased to present a film screening of the award-winning film 'Black Panther', one of the latest releases in the Marvel Films superhero series.

Following the screening there will be a discussion, chaired by Andy Smith (Head of Sociology), about the film. Our panelists, Mata Durkin (President, QMU), Lizelle Bisschoff (Trustee of the Africa in Motion Film Festival), and Ginini Atu (3rd year UG and social media coordinator for the Nigerian Students Society), will be discussing the significance of 'Black Panther' in the contemporary moment, the representation of Africa in mainstream film, and the importance of struggles over representation in popular culture.  

All are welcome to stay for a free and informal drinks reception afterwards.

The event will be held at a University of Glasgow venue on the GilmorehIll Campus. Full details will be provided on booking.
