This independently accredited training course is aimed at beer lovers (both experienced and less experienced), who want to understand more about why a beer might not taste as it should.
It is ideal for Brewery Liaison Officers, anyone who does beer scoring and as a refresher for Tasting Panel Members.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
To the standards of CAMRA.
The session will cover:
• Where off flavours come from • Brewing process and how it impacts on beer quality • A selection of off flavours found in beer • 4 characteristics we use when assessing beer •Practical session for you to put your knowledge into practice by tasting some beer with ‘off flavours’
In total, 5 beers will be tasted.
At the end of the course, you have the option of gaining a Certificate of Attendance or, after taking a quiz, a Certificate of Competency. The course is independently accredited by People 1st, who are part of the Guild of Hospitality. This course last around 3.5 - 4 hours hours.

No prior experience is necessary.
The training is taking place in the Speedwell Bar, which is featured in CAMRA's Scotland's True Heritage Pubs.
