Abstract

OxSyBio Limited is a synthetic biology company developing artificial tissues for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. OxSyBio’s proprietary technology enables the fabrication of artificial tissues incorporating both living and non-living biological components, including DNA, proteins and mammalian cells. In this talk, Dr David J. Lunn, Head of Synthetic Biology at OxSyBio, will give an overview of the company and highlight how their interdisciplinary research and development teams are utilising chemistry, biology, engineering and robotics to pick fights with diseases that directly impact our quality of life.

Biography

Dr David J. Lunn is the Head of Synthetic Biology at OxSyBio Limited, a biotechnology company developing synthetic tissues for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. David has broad and interdisciplinary research expertise, covering synthetic chemistry, materials science and synthetic biology. He has worked closely with a number of biotechnology start-ups and larger chemical companies, and continues to collaborate with academic research groups, both in the UK and internationally. David has an MSc and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and was previously a Marie Curie Global Research Fellow jointly at the Universities of Oxford and California.
