The Professions Fest brings together scholars researching the professions and professional service firms from a broadly sociological perspective. This year, the emphasis will be placed on the professions in a global context.

Confirmed papers include:

  1. Marcia Annisette (Schulich): 'Positional competition in transnational accountancy'
  2. Louise Ashley (Royal Holloway): '‘Choosing Our Battles’: Global diversity management as cultural imperialism in global professional service firms'
  3. Alison Gibson (Newcastle), Charles Harvey (Newcastle) and Frank Mueller (Newcastle): 'Universities, philanthropy and fundraising as profession'
  4. Sarah Hall (Nottingham): 'Reframing labour market mobility in global finance: Chinese elites in London’s financial district'
  5. Leonard Seabrooke (CBS) and Brooke Harrington (CBS) : 'Transnational Professionals'
  6. Rania Kamla (Heriot-Watt): 'Accountants and the City: professional boundaries and positioning in the binary city'
  7. Paul Caussat (Royal Holloway) and Mehdi Boussebaa (Glasgow): 'Colonial effects in the management of professional service firms: how and why French banks resist decentralization in India'

There will be an evening meal in town on Tuesday 10 September which attendees are welcome to join. Further details will be provided to registered attendees.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is strongly advised.
