By the Sword is a Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) event for women and marginalised genders of any experience level who want to approach the art of swordsmanship.

Started in 2017 as an event for women featuring female instructors, we hope to bring together people who want a place to learn that feels safe, friendly, and devoted to personal excellence.

By providing instruction on multiple disciplines in a relaxed and encouraging environment, By the Sword empowers you to begin or further your studies of Historical European martial arts in an environment where you can be yourself, and better yourself.

The event was originally planned for 2020 but has been postponed due to the ongoing global pandemic. Original ticketholders can still attend our April 2022 event.
