Event description


Registration for Wessex League 2019 London event, hosted by School of the Sword Oxford to be held at the Oxford Brookes Sport Centre on the 9th & 10th of November 2019.

To attend as a competitor, you must select "Tournament Entry" in the Main Ticket options and then select up to 3 open tournaments or 2 open and 2 women's tournaments which you wish to enter. This event cannot run without the hard work of our volunteers, so if you wish to volunteer your time - either for the whole event or for the parts where you aren't competing - please select the days you are willing to volunteer in the volunteer ticket section. 

The event will include:

  • Judging Training
  • Women's Longsword (20 spaces)
  • Women's Rapier & Dagger (20 spaces)
  • Open Longsword (40 spaces)
  • Open Sword & Buckler (24 spaces)
  • Open Rapier & Dagger (24 spaces)
  • Open Sabre (24 spaces)

Judging training will be split into two groups - training for new head refs, and training for line judges. The head ref training is for those that have already judged or done previous versions of our judging training. 

Rules and Equipment: Please ensure you have read the competition rules and equipment requirements before you register. Singe rapier will use the rapier & dagger rules, minus the parts that talk about the dagger.

Social

    • There will be a social gathering for drinks and dinner after the event, and on the Friday night for anyone arriving then

    Volunteering:

      • If you are able to volunteer all of your time for the weekend you attend free of charge and receive free lunch and drinks, and we will pay for up to £50 of your travel costs.
      • If you can volunteer as table or judging staff during periods when you aren't competing, you can claim a rebate of £5 for each shift you cover, payable after the event via Payl (up to a maximum of 3 shifts).

        We will keep a register which will need to be signed by each volunteer and countersigned by a referee in order to qualify for payment.

        Cost to attend: 

        ONLY volunteering as an official, without participating in any tournaments - FREE of charge. All your refreshments and lunches will be provided.

        Attendance and participation in any number of tournaments: £55
