Inclusivity - Mental Health and Disability Support for PGRs

Inclusivity - Mental Health and Disability Support for PGRs

Tuesday May 4th 2021

Event description

Finding the right support as a PGR student can be confusing. It can be difficult to know whether you fall under the staff category and or the student category within the University, as you are often classed as both.

This talk will provide University of Glasgow PGRs with advice and guidance on where best to seek support for mental health and disability, as well as information on how to promote an inclusive environment within your PGR group and amongst your peers. Our speakers are:

Suzie Shapiro - PGR Mental Health Advisor
Suzie will be explaining how to access mental health support as a PGR student and the programmes she offers.

Danny Gallacher - Disability and Inclusion Lead of the University
Danny will explain the Disability Service, what categorises as a Disability under the Equality Act 2010, and how to access a person-centred approach of support for disabled PGR students.

Chiara Horlin - Lecturer in Psychology and the co-creator of the Neurodiversity Network
Chiara will be explaining inclusivity, awareness, and acceptance of neurodiversity for PGR students.

All PGR students are welcome to attend!
