Ranking workouts
The Rainhill Trials consists of 3 different competitions for different levels of athlete: Kennedy, Rastrick and Wood
On registration you will be asked for your scores in the following -if you do not currently have a score, or your score is zero (no muscle ups for example) please don't worry! We will be contacting all entrants at the end of March for their final seeding scores so plenty of time to work on the movements. We will take into account the relative abilities of each group when assigning workouts for the competition:
(1) 2km row
For time. Any damper setting can be used
(2) Fight Gone Bad
For a description of FGB see http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/faq.html#WOD2. Weights are 10kg/8kg medball to 10'/8' target, 35kg SDHP and push press
(3) CrossFit Total
Sum of 1 rep max back squat, shoulder press and deadlift. All lifts must be completed in same session
(4) Max snatch
Muscle snatch, power snatch, split snatch and full snatch are all permitted. The bar must move from the ground to the catch position in one fluid movement. Feet must be brought in line under the hips with the bar in control overhead, hips and knees open.
(5) Max HSPU in 2 mins
Setup for HSPU is an abmat between a pair of 15kg plates. Hands must stay on the plates, which must be touching the sides of the abmat. Feet must touch the wall at the top and bottom of the movement
(6) Max muscle ups in 2 mins
Full extension at the bottom and full lockout at the top required
In each workout you will be given a rank from 1-60 against the other competitors, with 1 being the "best" score (separate scoreboards for male and female)
The scores across all 6 workouts will be then added together and used to determine your "qualifying position" - lowest score receiving the highest position. The top 20 male and female athletes will compete in the Kennedy award; athletes 21-40 competing in the Rastrick award and 41-60 competing in the Wood award.
