Intermediate Sea Swim weekend course (1st/2nd July)

These sessions are aimed at "swimmers" who have experienced open water swimming (not suited for dippers) but want to develop their stroke, their knowledge and their sea swimming ability. We will develop your swimming technique and swim stamina in open water and guide you through safety procedures for swimming at sea.

There will be a mix of theory and open-water sea swimming sessions over the two days. You will be given pointers on stroke improvement and sighting techniques to develop within your own swim style and guidance on how to prepare for swimming a swim distance in the sea.

PLEASE NOTE - these sessions are not suitable for beginners to open water swimming and swimmers should be comfortable with swimming lengths in a pool.

Recommended kit for the course:

o Wet Suit/Neoprene gloves/socks etc.

o Beach shoes

o Goggles

o Brightly coloured swim hat

o Tow Float (only required if not using a wetsuit and agreed with the swim teacher before the course starts)

o Swimming in different conditions

o Build on existing Swim Technique

o Implementing drills and practices

o Developing your Breathing Technique

o Combining Technique and Stamina 

o How to build stamina 

Course Dates:

Saturday 1/7/23 Sea  10:00am-13:00 (11:26 HT) 

Sunday 2/7/23 Sea  10:00am-13:00 (12:20 HT) 

Due to the nature of sea swimming, the reserve dates will come into play if the weather conditions are unsuitable for the sea session or the water quality make it unsafe for swimming. We will try to provide as much advance warning as possible if a session needs to be postponed but this will be due to environmental factors outside of our control.
