The Show

This year is the 125th Ashbourne Show. A traditional country and agricultural show, providing entertainment and interest, in a friendly atmosphere, making a great day out for all the family. We pride ourselves on maintaining high entries in Shire, cattle, sheep, goat and light horse classes. With around 150 quality trade stands, there is an excellent Crafts Tent and Food Hall. The main ring will be busy all day with entertainment, including this year. The JCB Dancing Diggers, Parade of three packs of Hounds and a Falconry Display. The Parade of 125 Shire and Heavy horses should be truly spectacular and maybe a record. Finally, relax with a bite and a cuppa, at the food mall or in the bar.

Things To See

Visit the displays from local branches of the W.I, Ashbourne Vintage Tractor Club, Young Farmers and Ashbourne Camera Clubs. Pop in at the Goat tent.  Enter the competitions in the Handicraft and Horticulture marquee, not forgetting the Pets and Poultry and finally don't miss the Dog show around lunch time. Shop at the wealth of trade stands for everything from a new tractor or lorry, down to some ‘wellie‘ boots, something practical or just for fashion. Find some truly delicious local produce in the Food Hall. And for our younger visitors, have a go on the Total Hire Digger, watch Punch and Judy or jump on the Bouncy Castle.

Show Rings

In the Main Ring [east], the Shires will be judged by a specially invited Judge from Australia during the morning. While the Main Ring [west] has Light Horse classes.  The Hunters have moved to the Light Horse field for this year, with rings two to five having a wealth of, in hand showing, ridden hunter, side saddle, hacks and retired racehorse to riding horse classes to name but a few. Later in the day the Main Ring combines for the displays by the JCB Dancing Diggers and the Longcliffe Quarries sponsored Grand Parade of 125 Shire and Heavy Horses. Parade of Beagles, Fox and Blood Hounds, Falconry Display, with the Grand Parade of winning animals at about 3.15 p.m, a major highlight of the afternoon.
