Each summer, Cathy Turpel brings her three decades of experience as a camp director to Camp Thayer, along with her tireless enthusiasm and the smile she shares with every camper. Before joining Camp Thayer in 1999, she was the director at Camp Chickami in Wayland for 12 years. Since arriving at Thayer, Cathy has also coached the varsity tennis program, has taught Upper School/6th grade health class, and serves as a freshman advisor. She also leads Girls With a Cause, a mentoring and community outreach program for pre-teen and teenage girls, providing opportunities to find and express their voices through acts of kindness and community service. As you read this, you can be sure that Cathy is counting down the days until summer begins and Camp Thayer opens: “It’s an amazing program and I am proud to be part of it.”
