Deer Run Camp
Chris Hancock, LCSW is a New York University trained, Nashville-based therapist. He received his MSW in 2000 and has worked in school based, outpatient addictions, and medically-supervised community mental health setting. In private practice in Nashville since 2007, he sees adults and adolescents individually, and for many years ran weekly intensive relational psychotherapy groups for adults. Traditionally trained in humanistic, interpersonal and insight-oriented modalities, Chris’s interests have been long-evolving into more psycho-spiritual and holistic territory. He has a sub-specialty called Support for Extraordinary Experience (S.E.E.) in which he assists people undergoing potentially Spiritually Transformative Experiences (STEs). With a keen interest in questioning our individual and collective mainstream/medicalized conceptions (and treatment) of mental illness, Chris has been incorporating positive, solution-focused, and energy-based psychology modalities methods into his work. Long-inspired by philosophical and spiritual wisdom traditions of east and west, Chris believes, ultimately, we are our own healers; that there is an accessible healing intelligence within all that is the Divine link to our highest and best good.
